Is something missing from your prayer life?

I think prayer may be one area where most Christians fall short. If you'd like to change that in your own life, now hear this: Chris Carrillo's August 26th message at Care-age of Brookfield. A large crowd was on hand to hear him dig into Matthew 17:14-21 with a timely commentary entitled "Some things require prayer and fasting."
(If you're reading this via email, please click on the title above to be taken to Chris's message.)

hanks for sharing the article, and more importantly, your personal experience of mindfully using our emotions as data about our inner state and knowing when it’s better to de-escalate by taking a time out are great tools. Appreciate you reading and sharing your story since I can certainly relate and I think others can to

Chris Carrillo's sermon is like most sermons. Accomoplishes nothing!
Effective prayer is not mechanical.
Prayer is not speaking correctly.
Acceptable prayer requires no preparation.
Knowing what to pray is not known by knowledge but by listening.
When praying is primary about yourself, you might not be listening.
Prayer is spiritual, in that when prayer communicates with the Lord, prayer is supernatural.
Prayer, as supernatural, communicates with God and to us through the Holy Spirit.
All spiritual life and experience must be because of The Helper.

“And while staying with them He, the Lord Jesus, ordered them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, he said, ‘you heard from me;’” Acts 1:4.

The Gospel of John provides what the words were the Apostles heard from Jesus.

16 And I will ask the Father,
and He will give you another Helper,
to be with you forever, . . .
17 even the Spirit of truth,
whom the world cannot receive,
because the world neither sees Him
nor knows Him.
You know Him,
for He dwells with you
and will be in you. (John 14:16, 17).

26 But the Helper,
the Holy Spirit,
whom the Father will send in My Name,
that is, the Name of Jesus,
He will teach you all things
and bring to your remembrance
all that I have said to you. (John 14:26).

26 “But when the Helper comes,
Whom I will send to you
from the Father,
He is the Spirit of truth,
Who proceeds from the Father,
He will bear witness about Me. (John 15:26).

7 Nevertheless,
I tell you the truth:
it is to your advantage that I go away,
for if I do not go away,
the Helper
will not come to you.
But if I go,
I will send Him to you. (John 16:7).

Prayers require only The Helper even if the prayer is just screaming or sobbing or has specific words. All that we do to train for prayer leaves out the Helper. Let the Helper speak to you before repeating those words as your prayer.

You and all those present will feel the difference because prayer that communicates is a powerful spiritual journey before the Lord.
